Inaugural meeting of the Governing Board of the Specific International Programme

The Minamata Convention on Mercury is serviced by a Financial Mechanism that consists of the Global Environment Facility and the Specific International Programme. The Specific International Programme was set up at COP-1 to support capacity building and technical assistance to help developing country Parties to implement the obligations of the Convention. This is the inaugural meeting of the Governing Board of the Specific International Programme. The Governing Board oversees the operations of the Programme, including how the approximately USD700,00 - received from Austria, Denmark, Norway, the United Kingdom and the United States of America – and is ready for programming for mercury support work, will be allocated. The Board consist of 10 members, with each UN region represented by two members.
